Brexit: keeping you informed as the landscape evolves

If you’ve been following the news over the past few years, you’ll be well aware of the long and complex process that the government has been undertaking to deliver Brexit.

It’s something that we’ve been watching very closely here at FreeAgent. We know that a lot of our small business customers are understandably anxious about what lies ahead in a post-Brexit future and we’re committed to helping them as much as possible through the transition.

Following today’s implementation of the government’s Withdrawal Agreement Bill, the UK will officially end its membership of the European Union at 11pm tonight. It’s anticipated that up to a year’s worth of negotiations will then take place to secure a new agreement on trade between the UK and the EU.

We don’t yet know what will happen during these talks or what that agreement will eventually look like. While most EU law is likely to still apply during the transition period, it's still unclear exactly what changes lie in store.

Whatever the outcome of the negotiations, we’ll be monitoring the situation very closely over the coming months. We’re committed to guiding our customers through this transition period and ensuring that our software remains compliant with the most up-to-date tax legislation.
