By setting up recurring invoices for your repeat customers with GoCardless Direct Debit mandates, GoCardless makes it quick and easy to take recurring payments from your customers automatically. 

You can choose to receive one-off or recurring payments on the invoice date, payment due date or when manually triggered, to streamline the payment process and help you get paid faster. 

You can select the automatic email feature on a customer’s recurring invoice profile to fully automate the process of sending the invoice and taking the payment. By enabling the auto-reconciliation feature, the invoice payment and GoCardless charges will be automatically reconciled in your FreeAgent account.

How GoCardless works with FreeAgent

Once you’ve connected your FreeAgent account to GoCardless, you can set up Direct Debit mandates with your customers and create recurring invoice profiles to send their invoices and take the payments automatically.

When the auto-reconciliation feature is enabled, the invoice payment and GoCardless charges will be automatically reconciled in your FreeAgent account when the payment has been received.

How do I get started with GoCardless?

You can start accepting Direct Debit payments for your FreeAgent invoices using GoCardless by following these steps:

1. Log in to your FreeAgent account, go to the drop-down menu at the top right and select ‘Connections & Add-ons’.
2. Select 'Learn more' in the 'GoCardless' section, then select 'Connect with GoCardless'.
3. If you’ve never used GoCardless before, enter your email address, select ‘Continue’ and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new GoCardless account. If you already have a GoCardless account you'd like to use, enter the email address associated with that GoCardless account and select ‘Continue’ to connect your GoCardless account to FreeAgent.
4. Enable the auto-reconciliation feature and set up a Direct Debit mandate with your customer in FreeAgent.
5. Create an invoice, or recurring invoice profile for repeat customers, and select the 'GoCardless' checkbox in the 'Payments' section.
6. Choose when you’d like to receive the payment and enable the automatic emailing options.
7. Once the payment has been received, the invoice payment and GoCardless charges will be automatically reconciled in your FreeAgent account.
